Va-Va-Voom Valentine's Weekend - Boxcar Burlesque

Image
This is from an Athens News assignment I got to cover. Turned out to be tons of fun and something I am going to continue working on. The girls were tons of fun and very nice. It was quite a great way to start off the weekend of Valentine's Day! This is "Cupid's Revue" put on by the girls of Boxcar Burlesque with special guests The Holly Grahams. Peace. Love. Happiness. -rso-

Haiti Week - Vigil

Image
It is Haiti Week at OU. Some of my friends from Anointed Praise were in charge of the candlelight vigil Tuesday night. I covered it for the Athens News. Not many people showed up, but I hope Haiti Week and all the organizations involved will raise a ton of money for Doctors without Borders and Hope Center, an orphanage that Sarah (one of the nice girls of Anointed Praise) volunteered at during her senior year of high school. The candles could barely stay lit due to the cold and wind. The picture below is of Sarah trying to keep the candles safe before the vigil. Hope everyone is doing their part to help out Haiti. Peace. Love. Happiness. -rso-

HELLO 2010! Ok, so I'm a little late on all that...

Winter Quarter has begun at O.U. and luckily the weather has been much better than last winter. I keep thinking about how bitter cold the weather was when I was working with everyone on "Trailerpark" last year. Now I can't even complain if it does get chilly out because I'm usually not out for very long anyway. To all of those who I owe pix to, I promise they are coming. Life has been crazy (and still is a bit) and the group of DVDs I bought were all worthless and would not burn. Stellar, I know. So trust me, I have not flaked out. :-) My classes this quarter are fascinating (well, minus Media Law). I have some great teachers and have made new friends and of course spending an enormous amount of time at Donkey. I haven't picked my camera up much yet this quarter except to shoot the Walk for the Homeless. Once again, they had a huge turn out and it was a great success. I am glad that they were able to get so many people involved, raise a bunch of money, and have a ...

Genia

Here are some pictures from my piece I did on Eugenia Durham. Genia is a 34-year-old mom of 2. Oh, and she is deaf. She is an amazing lady as are her kids and her family members who support her. Enjoy! -rso-

Today, October 8, 2009 means that I have been a Big Sis to Alexis in Big Brothers Big Sisters for a year. I wish she wasn't living hours away. :-( I did call her though. :-) Her response? "WOW!" -rso- 1st OU Football game of the school year! She is quite the fan!!! Me and Lex at Stroud's!!! Me and Lex last year at the house before our BBBS Halloween Party!!!

Getting Inked

Image
Here is a little one-day shoot I did for ViCo 486. I met this girl Colleen Eddy and documented her getting a tattoo at Decorative Injections by tattoo artist Jim Kisor. Below are the four pics I ended up using and the final layout for class with story. -rso-

Paw Paw Perfection

The 11th Annual Paw Paw Festival at Lake Snowden was a great way to recreate some magical moments I have experienced with some of my closest friends since sophomore year when we first drove out to the festival without knowing what we were getting ourselves into. Between the Paw Paw beer garden, the Paw Paw buckeyes, the children and dogs running around, tents with crafts, beautiful light, fabulous people and hay bails to sit on, it's no wonder we always come back for more. This year was even more amusing since I spent a great deal at Lake Snowden while working on "Trailerpark", except when I was working it was usually freezing and not quite so laid back (but we did it and it was a huge success!). Here are some photos I took while having fun (recreation of sophomore year group photo by the lake courtesy of Michael Glass). It was nice just to shoot for myself rather than for a class. So here, here to the Ohio fruit and it's festival and all the wonderful memories it ha...
